Design of metabolic pathways to convert raw materials into food, pharmaceuticals, fuels, and other chemicals. Emphasis on genetic engineering to modify the metabolism of an organism. It includes modern technologies and challenges within the field. Evaluation of the design of metabolic pathways and their regulatory mechanisms. Requires 30 hours of conference and 45 hours of laboratory.
