BIOT 5001 Genetic Manipulation

Analysis of the control of gene expression in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Discussion of the control of responses to different environmental signals through precisely coordinated transcription regulatory networks. Emphasis on investigating and identifying how eukaryotic and prokaryotic transcriptional regulators control recruitment, enzyme retention, and modulation of chromatin structure during transcriptional activation and repression. Discussion of the principles of genetic manipulation using forward and reverse genetics approaches.
