BIOT 5022 Biotechnology Laboratory Skills II

Application of instrumental methods and laboratory techniques for the study of biomolecules. Emphasis on the use of laboratory techniques such as ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectroscopy, atomic spectroscopy, liquid and gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of biomolecules. It includes the instrumental analysis of proteins and derivatives, carbohydrates, lipids and nucleic acids. Use of statistical methods to analyze and interpret the data generated. It requires 45 hours of face-to-face closed laboratory.
