BIOT 7240 Development and Genetic Expressions in Animals

Study of advanced gene transfer techniques in animals using the recombinant DNA technique. Discussion of cloning strategies, gene libraries, DNA sequence analysis, selection of recombinant organisms by genetic expression, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and hybridization techniques. Analysis of the cellular and molecular aspects of animal growth and tissue development, with emphasis on animals for human consumption. Requires 30 hours of conference and 45 hours of laboratory.
