BIOT 7390 Marine Biotechnology

Analysis of the relevant technologies and applications for the mass culture of fish, macroalgae and microalgae for the production of biomass or specific products. Discussion of basic culture, physiology and nutrition of organisms, environmental factors that affect cell composition, mass culture and subsequent processing. Detailed evaluation of the economic applications of microalgae that are used for the generation of products at the industrial level and the analysis of species with research potential. Requires 30 hours of conference and 45 hours of laboratory.
