MMBP 4400 Cell Growth Regulation and Molecular Signaling Pathways
Analysis of cell physiology and the signaling pathways that regulate cell growth, replication, and death under controlled growth environments, including bioreactors. Application of various cell culture techniques and methods used to grow, evaluate, and enumerate mammalian cells under strict quality controls, replicating upstream processes. Analysis of the cell cycle and apoptotic pathways using flow cytometry techniques, morphological studies, and cell motility. Regulatory aspects regarding the use of human mammalian cells for research and development in industrial bioprocesses are discussed. Requires 30 lecture hours and 45 laboratory hours.
Prerequisite
MMBP 3500 and MMBP 4100.
