MMBP 4960 Research Methods in Molecular Medicine and Bioprocesses

Development of research in areas related to molecular medicine and bioprocesses. The experiments leading to the research will be related to conditions such as cancer, autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, infectious processes, and genetic disorders, among others. Techniques will be applied to optimize cell cultures, purification processes and formulation of biological molecules, cell characterization, analytical and microbiological assays for quality control, identification and quantification of impurities and excipients, filtration processes to concentrate the product, and viral inactivation, among others. Emphasis will be placed on documentation practices that guarantee the integrity of bioprocesses. Requires 30 lecture hours and 45 laboratory hours.
