Databases (MS)

The Master of Science in Databases is designed to provide a formal higher education alternative in the field of design, creation and management of databases and communication networks. This Program aims to train the graduate as a specialist in the area of ​​distributed systems, software engineering specialized in communication networks, operating systems and high-level languages.

The Fajardo Campus is authorized to offer this program.

The Master of Science in Databases is designed to develop the skills that allow the student:

Knowledge

  1. Be updated with the different technologies that are used for the creation, administration, implementation, and improvement of databases.
  2. Develop formal research work in the field of databases that explore and allow the use of computer technology in different areas of knowledge and human activity.
  3. Detect problems and propose the respective solution in situations where knowledge-based systems of management, programming and database administration are suitable to support decision-making.
  4. Integrate an effective and productive work team.
  5. Study formal computational models such as algorithm complexity theory and see their usefulness in the design, development, management, use of programming and information management.

Skills

  1. Propose technological solutions in databases to process them and convert them into useful information for decision making.
  2. Apply computational knowledge that will be useful in solving problems of database design and development.
  3. Apply formal methods in solving computational problems, such as development of Entity-Relationship models and specification of relational databases.
  4. Design, develop, manage, and administer distributed and relational databases with progressive achievements proportional to the increase in their depth and complexity.
  5. Apply the methodologies, tools and techniques for planning, design and implementation of projects.
