Post-Master Professional Certificate in Loss and Grief Intervention
Program description
The Post-Master's Professional Certificate in Loss Intervention aims to train professionals in different areas. to offer loss and grief intervention services to diverse populations. For purposes of the Program, the concept “loss” refers to the event; and the concept "mourning" refers to the process after the event. It is intended that the student understand the grieving process, know its stages and the mechanisms to manage losses. In addition, it is important that you can assess the types of grief and that you develop appropriate intervention processes, according to clients. It includes the management of loss and grief with individuals, couples and groups, in situations of death, suicide, terminal illness, abortion, job displacement, loss due to natural disasters, emigration, separation, among others, that affect individuals.

Admission requirements
In addition to meeting the admission requirements established in the current Graduate Catalog, to be admitted to the Post-Master's Professional Certificate in Loss and Grief Intervention program, the student must:

Possess a master's or doctorate degree from a recognized and accredited institution of higher education, with a specialty in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Nursing, Geriatrics, Gerontology, Medicine or Pastoral Counseling.

Have passed the degree with a minimum academic index of 3.00.

Have passed a three (3) credit human development course at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Process the sending of the official credit transcript of the master's degrees.
Note: Anyone interested in practicing as a Social Worker, Professional Counselor, Psychologist, Nurse or Physician must meet the requirements established by the corresponding College or Examining Board.
Withholding Requirements
The retention requirements for the proposed Post-Master's Professional Certificate in Loss and Grief Intervention are:

Comply with the academic progress standards established in the Graduate Catalog.

Pass the Post-Master's Professional Certificate in Loss and Grief Intervention with an average of 3.00.
Graduation Requirements
In addition to meeting all the graduation requirements established in the current Graduate Catalog, the applicant for this Post-Master's Professional Certificate in Loss and Grief Intervention through the one-year program must:

Be a regular student.

Have completed the required courses of the study program as established in the Graduate Catalog.

Obtain a general academic index of 3.00 or more.
