COMP 3500 Operating Systems
Discussion of operating system concepts. Description of operating system architectures with emphasis on resource allocation and management, such as the processor, memory, file systems, security mechanisms, and synchronization of processes and threads. Evaluation of different operating systems. Discussion of the importance of continuing professional development and awareness of the social, ethical-legal, professional, and security issues and responsibilities in the discipline. Requires 45 lecture-laboratory hours.
