Environmental Health and Toxicology (Post Baccalaureate Professional Certificate)

Program description

The Post-Baccalaureate Professional Certificate in Environmental Health and Toxicology is one of an interdisciplinary nature related to the study of the fundamentals of public health and environmental care through environmental health and toxicology. The purpose of the certificate is to explore solutions to problems that affect human health. It pursues the integral development of the student in the area of natural sciences by expanding their cognitive abilities so that they can perform in their area of employment with greater efficiency in tasks related to environmental health and toxicology.

The student must pass the courses with a minimum grade of B in the courses and must maintain a general average of 3.00.

The Aguadilla Campus is authorized to offer this program.

Program Goals

The goals established for the Post-Baccalaureate Professional Certificate in Environmental Health and Toxicology contribute to the training of professionals of excellence from a multidisciplinary perspective for the search for solutions to environmental problems.

  1. Apply theoretical, scientific and humanistic knowledge in the fields of environmental health and toxicology.

  2. Use scientific knowledge for the identification, analysis, and detection of environmental health and toxicology problems.

  3. Formulate solutions to environmental and toxicological problems that confront both society and the environment.

  4. Demonstrate responsibility with personal development and with the disciplines of environmental health and toxicology.

  2. Recognize the technical vocabulary related to both environmental health and the toxicology field for effective communication with the scientific and professional communities.

  1. Apply the theoretical and technical bases for the detection, identification, evaluation and presentation of solutions to hazards related to environmental health and toxicology.

  2. Investigate situations of high risk to environmental health.

  3. Design procedures for the analysis and resolution of problems related to environmental health and toxicology.

  1. Integrate ethical considerations in the labor context of environmental health and toxicology.

  2. Demonstrate continuous commitment to their professional development, through participation in activities to update knowledge in the disciplines of environmental health and toxicology.

Admission requirements

The Inter-American University of Puerto Rico grants admission to its campuses for a determined time, in any enrollment period during the academic year. All candidates for admission must present documents proving their identity for authentication purposes (photo identification such as a valid passport or driver's license). Admission is valid for the academic term in which it is granted. However, the validity of the admission can be extended, at the applicant's request, for an additional period not exceeding one semester academic term or its equivalent. Those interested in belonging to this Program must be admitted to the University and meet the admission standards established in the current Graduate Catalog of the University.

Students applying for the Post-Baccalaureate Professional Certificate in Environmental Health and Toxicology must:

  1. Have completed the graduation requirements for a bachelor's degree in one of the disciplines of the natural sciences from an accredited university with a minimum overall graduation average and concentration of 3.00.
