The Nursing Education Specialty is designed to develop competencies that will enable students to:

  1. Apply conceptual frameworks, models, and theories that provide the foundation for nursing education.

  2. Apply statistical methods in the research process.

  3. Integrate concepts and principles of epidemiology.

  4. Incorporate cultural competence into the nursing education context.

Skills

  1. Use teaching strategies in nursing education.

  2. Develop evaluation, measurement, and assessment instruments for nursing education.

  3. Incorporate the regulations of the profession and accrediting agencies into their professional practice.

  4. Develop assessment plans for educational institutions or programs that incorporate assessment concepts, principles, and trends.

Attitudes

  1. Appreciate emerging technological trends, incorporating evidence-based practice.

  2. Appreciate the impact of the economy on health service organizations.

  3. Demonstrate the role of the nursing professional as an agent of change in the face of new technologies.
